History of Jazz (SUM 2012)

I was truthfully inspired by this course. Never had I been asked to criticize a performance beyond a simple "I liked/disliked it." Music is such a personal experience and to be asked to share one of my favorite Jazz artist with someone who had yet to be exposed to the genre was truly an honor. What I learned from this activity was how to grapple and tactility manipulate nebulous concepts and terminologies that prefer to be relegated to the ether.

The following is an excerpt:

The sounds unleashed that evening from this woman are primal and raw, yet undoable without mastery of breath and technique. Hearing her I can imagine what the first sounds an ancient shaman would utilize to proclaim to her tribe and validate her position by exclaiming that she holds existence itself in her hand.
