APIASF Reader 2014-2015

During the 2013-2013 academic year, I applied for Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund's General Scholarship. Unfortunately, I was not selected as a scholarship recipient. Nonetheless, I feel there is much need for higher education scholarship programs for the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.

Often times students of these communities are unable to fund their education or are forced to work while attending university. I personally worked more than full time hours and volunteered on- and off-campus while attending university full time. Opportunities such as those offered by APIASF are greatly important for the success of our future degree holders and eventual community leaders. Because of this I have applied to be a scholarship reader.

Yesterday, I was approved and will begin my service to the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund General Scholarship Program and effectively my community. The scholarship review process will take place from January 13th until March 14th. I look forward to reading the essays from this years applicants. Best of luck to all those who apply.
