ORCHID: Awaiting State Approval

Happy New Year! Between job searches, my direct client practice and contract work, this has been a very busy time. As many of you who follow this section of my ePortfolio are aware, I was approached back in September to open a Medicaid provider agency. I took the project on as a contractor to ensure that I did not hold up the process. Since then I have completed all the required technical writing and business development components required by the state.

A few days ago, on the last day of 2013, the first major step in opening an agency that provides home- and community-based services for individuals and families who experience disabilities was taken. The business owner and I submitted a very large application packet to the State of Alaska and are now awaiting approval. I was later approached and asked to be a founding partner and to serve as Director of Health & Disability Services upon state approval. The agency name is Outreach Residential Clinic Helping Individuals with Disabilities or ORCHID for short. Please wish us the best for the new year.
